SUP in Zurich, Switzerland for Limmat River waves. Saturday, August 18th will go down in history as over 250 surfers, watermen, and waterwomen congregated at the mouth of the Limmat River in Zurich, Switzerland to promote the construction of a future standing city wave. Stand up paddle surfer Robery Etienne from Geneva, Switzerland was on the scene to give us the report and send the pics.
The landlocked country of Switzerland is respected world wide for world class skiiing and snowboarding. Now, the future is looking bright for surfing to be added to Switzerland's bag of tricks. Zurich is Switzerland's largest city with a population of about 1 million. Stand up Paddle surfing has found it's place on Lake Geneva and will soon be seen on Lake Zurich.
Reporting on the event in Zurich, Robert said, "People
were curious, some did not understand and others commented on how
elegant SUP looked on the water. It was great fun to be part of this
eclectic event, going down the river in the center of this beautiful
city yelling, 'We want a wave, we want a wave!', as hundreds of passers
by looked on at the action."
