Jeremy Boisson: Winner of Event #1
This year, the French Surfing Federation decided to organize the first official Stand Up Paddling French Cup. It’s going to be a full tour with 7 events, and to be sure to have the best surfers, Rico Leroy (member of the Longboard/Tandem Surfing and now SUP departement of the Federation) arranged to have 3 divisions on each event (LB, Tandem, SUP). At the end the season a Waterman Trophy will be awarded.
The first event was held at the famous spot of “La Torche” in “Bretagne,” northwest of France). The waves were small but fun, 2/3 feet with light on shore wind. As a “head judge” we had the experienced Claude Chamoux who got the latest criteria of sup riding Rico Leroy: Tandem Surf Word Champ from Rico (who went to Australia and Hawai this winter) to make this first contest a success. For the finals we had four experienced surfers; 2007 French Longboard Champion Alexy Deniel, Tandem Surfing World Champ Rico Leroy, winner of the Hoalen Salt Water Classic SUP division Greg Closier, and one of the top French longboarders Jeremy Boisson.
The event is fixed on June 7/8 at Brérignolles sur Mer in Vendée.
Results from Event One:
1. Jeremy Boisson (Lacanau surf club)
2. Greg Closier (Minou surf club)
3. Rico Leroy (Lacanau surf club)
4. Alexis Deniel (Seven Islands sur club)
