 Oceanside, CA - (August 11, 2008) - The Oceanside Longboard Surfing Club's 24th
annual End of Summer Surf
Contest & Beach Festival, to be held August 15-17 at Oceanside Pier,
welcomes Boardworks as the new sponsor of
the StandUp Paddleboard event that will be held on Saturday, August 16, as part
of the overall End of Summer festivities.
The series of events begins
Friday, August 15, with Guy Takayama's 8th annual Pro Noseriding Contest,
featuring several of the world's best longboard surfers. Thousands of dollars in
prize money will be up for grabs with the top prize going to the surfer who can
ride the nose of their longboard for the longest period of time.
The Boardworks StandUp Paddleboard contest will run on Saturday alongside the
amateur longboard contest. Expect to see some of the best watermen from
California and Hawaii competing for cold hard cash, cool trophies and bragging
rights.
For spectators and participants, a Stewart standup paddleboard
and a Hynson Black Knight quad, donated by Boardwords, along with other beach
gear will be raffled off during the festival with all proceeds to be donated to
Oceanside High School Surf Teams, the California Surf Museum, and the
Interscholastic Surfing Federation.
The Beach Festival has something for
every member of the family, from delicious food and beer from the beer garden,
to live music, Polynesian dancing, and original artwork.
