A Mesage from the Editor: Respects to the Stand Up Paddler With Nothing To Prove |

I feel the need to give a shout out and recognition to the stand up paddlers who paddle out and share in the waves with stellar etiquette and display the maturity, self-control, and confidence that they have nothing to prove. They are non-aggressive, easy going, yet when the wave does come to them, they make the most of it. There's no need to grab all the waves to prove to the lineup that you're not a beginner. This sport is about sharing, good times, and absolutely shredding when the time is right. Personally, I don't look down on anyone beginning learning the sport. There's no shame in learning and there's nothing to prove. I look up to those who are quietly developing their skills the right way and in the right place. I look up to the guy that's not out there to been seen or to be the star of the show. I look up to the surfer who is considerate, polite, and stoked to be on the water...regardless or what he or she is riding. And with this post, I give my respect to all surfers stand-up and prone paddlers who with quiet dignity prove themselves to themselves, and in the lineup remains in control and play in the waves with nothing to prove to the other surfers prone-paddle or stand up paddle. And the truth is, they're the ones having the most fun. Aloha.
